COLLAPSEOn Web, you can download tracks once you have signed in to your SoundCloud account by clicking on the download file button beneath the waveform.

You can enable, or disable downloads for your listeners through your track’s Permissions tab. Enabling downloads means that your listener can have a copy of your original file format that you have uploaded to SoundCloud.

On many websites, you want to track when visitors download your brochure, a photo, a software, etc. Matomo (Piwik) automatically track these clicks as Downloads, and reports them under Behavior > Downloads.

Matomo will automatically detect a download as a click on a link that ends with one of the following file extensions: 7z, aac, apk, arc, arj, asf, asx, avi, azw3, bin, bz, bz2, csv, deb, dmg, doc, docx, epub, exe, flv, gif, gz, gzip, hqx, ibooks, jar, jpg, jpeg, js, mp2, mp3, mp4, mpg, mpeg, mobi, mov, movie, msi, msp, odb, odf, odg, ods, odt, ogg, ogv, pdf, phps, png, ppt, pptx, qt, qtm, ra, ram, rar, rpm, sea, sit, tar, tbz, tbz2, tgz, torrent, txt, wav, wma, wmv, wpd, xls, xlsx, xml, z, zip.

Matomo (Piwik) should automatically track clicks on Download files (with a known extension, eg. jpg, png, exe, zip, etc.) and clicks on Outlinks (links to other websites) using Javascript click handlers. There are a few reasons why this could fail:

• Conflicting Javascript code
  In some rare cases, Download and Outlink tracking doesn’t work in Matomo is because your page is using another Javascript script or library which sets click handlers as well. If a third-party click handler returns a value, it is causing the browser to cancel other registered click handlers. Instead they should return false. Most scripts and libraries are doing it correctly, but you might have to manually edit your Javascript code to return false in onclick events.
• Matomo doesn’t respond fast enough and user is redirected to the click target
  Matomo click handler works by adding a small delay during which the request is sent to the Matomo server. If somehow the request doesn’t reach the server within this delay, the request will be not be tracked and the user will be redirected to the clicked download file or to the external website. You can increase this delay, from the default of 500ms (0.5 second), by adding the following in the Javascript code, after the piwik.getTracker(..) line:

  Types of mobile app conversions you can track

  You can track a variety of conversions for both Android and iOS apps:

  • App installs: Conversion tracking can measure how effectively your ads are leading people to install your mobile apps. There are a couple of different ways to track this:
    • Downloads from Google Play: For Android apps, you can track when someone who clicked your ad downloads your app from the Google Play store. Conversions are tracked automatically from Google Play, and you don’t need to add tracking code to your app.
    • First opens: For both Android and iOS apps, you can track the first time someone who clicked your ad opens your app after installing it. You can use this option if you use Firebase, or if you use a third-party app analytics provider.
  • In-app actions, such as purchases: If you’re using Google Ads to drive purchases or other actions within your app, use conversion tracking to measure your campaigns’ effectiveness. You can automatically track in-app purchases for Android apps that use in-app billing, or you can track custom in-app actions through Firebase, by adding code to your app, or by using a third-party app analytics provider.Want to send a large file, or know when someone downloads your file?     3. Files are uploaded and downloaded over encrypted connections.

    Tracking downloads can affect the deliverability of your email. If you are seeing your messages with attachments flagged as spam or suspicious, we suggest using traditional attachments.
